NETWORK named *T.J.MAXX District Charity of Choice*

TJX Companies, the parent of TJ/MAXX retail chain, recently awarded NETWORK support for its Children’s Services and named NETWORK their District’s Charity of Choice in their Regional Targeting Program. Annette Bartlett, Manager of the TJ/MAXX on Beltline in Richardson, delivered the check and toured our facility. “TJ/MAXX,” stated Ms. Bartlett, “is very impressed with the work that NETWORK is doing, and we hope to continue this revitalized relationship.”

NETWORK selected as a *Dallas Morning News Charity*

The Dallas Morning News Charities has selected NETWORK as a recipient of the 2010-2011 campaign. The allocation of funds during the upcoming campaign will be 5%. NETWORK will receive the 1st distribution of funds in November 2010, with a 2nd distribution to be made at the end of December 2010, and a final disbursement in mid-February 2011. DMN funds are used to benefit the hungry and the homeless, and NETWORK’s support provides rental and temporary housing assistance to those in need. This new award marks NETWORK’s 16th year as a recipient in the Dallas Morning News Charities campaign, and in the last five years (2005 – 2010) NETWORK has received over $300,000.

NETWORK named *1 of 6 North Texas Food Bank Model Agency of the Year Finalists*

At the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) Member Agency Conference held in September, NETWORK was named as one of the six finalists for Member Agency of the Year. NTFB has 307 Member Agencies in 13 North Texas counties; to be selected as a finalist is a high distinction. NTFB prioritized (1) the number of feeding programs, (2) the number of individuals fed, and (3) how agencies have begun to “close the gap” on hunger as the criteria for selection. We are honored by the recognition of our efforts in helping to eradicate hunger in North Texas.

THANK YOU for helping NETWORK get nominated & earn these special awards!

NETWORK hopes to see you all at Russo’s New York: Coal Fired Italian Kitchen NEXT TUESDAY!

The holidays are here…?!

The holidays are finally here, and for most of us that means lots of yummy food, quality family & friend time, pulling out those dusty winter clothes once again, and aimlessly driving around to purchase the “toy of the season”.

For others, however, the holidays can be a tough and very stressful time. Thats why NETWORK has partnered with and created several Holiday Programs not only to provide to our neighbors in need, but to help make their holiday season a little more bright.

:: National One Warm Coat Program ::
NETWORK has partnered again this year with the NOWC Program to provide FREE coats to families in need. Last year NETWORK donated over 700 coats! Donate your gently used or new coats to NETWORK during November and December.

:: Holiday Baskets & Adopt an Angel Project ::
Seniors’ Net provides 200 preselected clients with a FOOD BASKET (complete to serve a holiday meal.) During the December holidays, a special GIFT BAG is also delivered containing personal care items, socks and a lap blanket. Your DONATION of ONLY $10 will provide this FOOD BASKET & GIFT BAG for a senior in need.

:: Santa Program & Santa’s Warehouse ::
Help us share the joy this season by donating money and/or unwrapped toys or by “Adopting a Family” for NETWORK’s Santa Program & Santa’s Warehouse. Santa’s Warehouse accepts and sorts all donations, while the Santa Program assembles and distributes the gifts & stockings to children and families in need.

Want to learn more about any of these Holiday Programs, making a donation, partnering with or volunteering at NETWORK? Contact KJohnson@thenetwork.org today!

We look forward to hearing your feedback & to establishing wonderul memories this holiday season!

Hello world!

Welcome to the NETWORK’s first blog post!

The purpose of this blog is to keep our community, volunteers, & staff informed on the upcoming changes, announcements, events, etc. that NETWORK has. NETWORK is always striving for new partners, donations, and volunteers to enable expansion of our services and ministries to those in need in our community.

First, I would like to introduce who we are and what we provide to the community as a part of the nonprofit world…

The Network of Community Ministries Inc. (NETWORK), founded in 1985, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization.

Nonprofit/Company Overview: NETWORK is based in Richardson, Texas and has a service area encompassing fourteen zip codes in Dallas County. We respond to human, emergency needs by giving assistance with the goal of helping individuals achieve long-term independence.

Mission: “Caring, coaching and empowering neighbors in need as they seek an improved quality of life.”

Products: NETWORK is a non-denominational community-based organization with currently three divisions:

Emergency Services- providing health and temporary services to children, low-income families, and senior citizens.

Adolescent and Children’s Clinic- meeting the medical and dental care needs of uninsured school children.

The Seniors’ Net- dedicated to helping the older generations live independently, for as long as possible, in the familiar environment of their own home.
