Volunteering in 2011

With the New Year, there are always New Opportunities…especially when it comes to NETWORK volunteering.

NETWORK is in dire need of permanent volunteers…those who can commit to 3 hours a week or more. Our shifts are M-Th: 9-12, 12-3 & 3-6…and on F: 9-12 & 12-3.

Emergency Services: Interviewers, Receptionists, Food Room Workers, Delivery & Donation Drivers.

Senior’s Net: Call Center/ Receptionists, Delivery Drivers, Handy-men & Handy-women!

Adolescent & Children’s Clinic: Doctors, Nurses, Dentists.

*As the summer approaches, there will be more opportunities for children & teens to get involved! – Big Meals for Little Kids assembles and delivers food to the RISD students who are on ‘free or reduced lunch’ during the regular school year - there are 17,000 TOTAL.

*The NETWORK Clothes Closet will be opening very SOON! NETWORK will needs lots of new volunteers to help with this new addition, as well as lots of clothes to fill the space! (Now you have a GOOD excuse to clean out your closet!)

*Loaves of Love (LOL) will be extending to Wednesday mornings. LOL delivers loaves of bread to our Senior’s Net clients.

NETWORK would like to say ‘THANK YOU’ to everyone who generously donated their time, efforts and dollar to help those in need this holiday season! We could not have done it without you!

Although the ”Giving Season” has come to an end, there are still thousands of people (in the Dallas/ Richardson area alone) who need your help! Put your New Year’s Resolution in action by helping your neighbors in need!

Will be CLOSED after noon on Thursday, Dec. 23 & ALL day Friday, Dec. 24.

Will be CLOSED ALL day Thursday, Dec. 30 & Friday, Dec. 31.

Senior’s Net:

Will be CLOSED after noon on Thursday, Dec. 23 & ALL day Friday, Dec. 24.

NOTE: Loaves of Love & Handymen will NOT be working on the morning of Thursday, Dec. 23 — BOTH areas will start back on Jan. 6, 2011!

Adolescant & Children’s Clinic:

Will be CLOSED for 2 WEEKS — Monday, Dec. 20 – Friday, Dec. 31. The clinic will re-open for volunteering & appointments on Monday, Jan. 3, 2011!

Cisco Systems to Support NETWORK’s Clinic!

*NETWORK’s Adolescent and Children’s Clinic (NACC) will soon have a new partnership with Cisco Systems, Richardson.

Michael LaManna, Texas Community Relations Executive for Cisco Systems, Inc., hosted NETWORK at a luncheon on the company’s campus to discuss building a new partnership for local children and families. LaManna recently toured NETWORK along with other representatives of different agencies and corporations, then followed with contacting NETWORK about the partnership. LaManna expressed that he had thoroughly vetted the leadership as well as the organization, and he was impressed!

In addition to support for the clinic, Cisco will fund KND Productions of Sherman, TX to produce marketing videos for our website along with wall display panels for the lobby. LaManna also expressed Cisco Systems’ desire to help NETWORK upgrade its technology infrastructure in the future, as well as engage its employees as the partnership continues.

NETWORK  looks forward to the partnership with Cisco Systems & these upcoming upgrades! Thank you Cisco!

NETWORK to Expand!

*The City of Richardson recently awarded NETWORK the second installment of a five year grant benefitting the Family Clothing Center – within the New Era Expansion (see more information below), next door to the main facility.

A $65,000 gift came in November that is dedicated to rent and utilities for the 6,000 square ft. addition. The City of Richardson remains a lead supporter of NETWORK’S mission and services for the impoverished within the community, providing not only financial assistance but in-kind donations for our clinic, emergency services and seniors.

*BOKA Powell, LLC is finalizing construction plans on NETWORK’s 6,000 square foot New Era Expansion led by NETWORK Board Member and Architect, Chris Barnes, and Sonya Odell, BOKA Powell, LLC’s Assistant Principal. 

Odell states that they will soon measure, inventory, and list all of the existing furniture that is available for use in the new configuration of Phase 1 of the expansion.  A projected construction estimate will follow, and our Board Member, Mr. Barnes, has been in touch with potential contractors. 

Phase 1 includes relocation of Seniors’ Net into the new area and the launch of a Family Clothing Center.  BOKA Powell’s architectural rendering of the five phase expansion and renovation is available in NETWORK’s exhibit area at the main facility.

*Clinic: Doctors & Nurses, Dentists & Dental Hygienists

Our shifts are from 9:oo-12:00, 12:00-3:00, and 3:00-6:00 Monday – Thursday and from 9:00-12:00 & 12:00-3:00 on Friday. (Clinic hours are from 6:00-8:00 MW)

‘Russo’s Toy & Food Drive’ for Network!

Russo’s Toy & Food Drive benefiting NETWORK.

Russo’s New York is collecting unwrapped toys and nonperishable food items to donate to The Network of Community Ministries.

This collection will be taking place at: *The 3rd Annual Eastside Tree Lighting*

Date: Thursday, December 2, 2010 @ 5:30 – 7:30.

Richardson, TX
(SE corner of Campbell and Central Expressway)

*Free food samples & holiday treats for the whole family!

*Visit from Santa!

*Christmas music & a performance by the Richardson East Church of Christ’s Praise Team!
